The production of goods and services measured through Monthly Index of Economic Activity (IMAE), for the period of January to March of the 2006, registered a growth of 6,9%, compared with the same period of the previous year. In this performance those, which excel are the commerce activities, tourism, transport, storage, telecommunications, financial intermediation and the construction. The commercial activity continued showing growth, sustained by a greater amount of goods commercialized in the Free Zone of Colon.

The benefit of services in hotels and restaurants presented/displayed positive tendencies, sustained by the affluence of tourists and the expenses conducted by such.

 Indicators of the Construction

The value declared in the acquisition of the permissions for new construction, additions and repairs shows a growth of 10.8%. In the district of Columbus the greater percentage increase was registered, coding in 71.3%.

On the other hand, the premixed production of concrete increased 40.180 m3, that is to say, in 16.6%, when happening of 242.503 m3 to the 31 of March from 2005 to 282.683 m3 to the 31 of March of 2006.
